Our roads and pavements are the lifeblood of our economy and are used by every citizen. They require the investment levels befitting their need. Yet maintenance of roads, pavements and lighting gets a dismal score of 4 out of 10 in our on-line survey of residents*. Hardly surprising given the plethora of potholes across the county.

Some of Buckinghamshire's roads have been classified as the 5th worst in the country according to the Department for Transport (2019). Residents clearly feel very upset about this issue.

Our budget for roads/pavements is mostly spent with RINGWAY JACOBS a private company (otherwise know as Transport For Bucks). This use of one single company must stop. We can stop it and share the contracts locally and demand better service levels.

The Lib Dems will focus on improving the maintenance of roads and pavements which have been continually underinvested in and mis-managed by Transport for Bucks.

We will reverse the £2m planned cuts to tackling potholes and will double the investment in safe pavements (£2m to £4m). We will hold Transport for Bucks to account and ensure there is greater scrutiny of their service levels while reviewing opportunities for new providers.
